Important main factors caused color fading:

Reasons and facts may cause color fading.

1) Quality of media.

2) Coating on the media.

3) Length of time the printed image directly facing UV light.

4) Amount of rain and the acid contain in the water.

5) Air pollution.

Can I mix my inks with old ink sets?

Don't do it. Contrary to some opinion, ColorDot Inks do not react when mixed with other Inks, so mixing is not a problem. There is no point in doing so, as any mixing with other inks will negate fade resistant properties. Color profile calculations are based on complete ColorDot ink sets, so the colors will be less predictable when sets are mixed.

Will these inks encourage blocking of the print head?

Definitely not. ColorDot technical labs recently printed block colors using two Epson 5000 printers to destruction. The print heads never seriously clogged. The most common problem encountered with any brand of ink set is running cartridges until they are empty. Continued printing introduces air into the ink feeds, which prevents the inks from running reliably. This is often interpreted as an ink blockage. Repeated presses of the cleaning buttons without nozzle checks in between have the effect of only one cleaning cycle. The printer "pretends" to clean, but there are only token "whirrs" going on inside. The best advice is that if cartridges are run until empty, replace the cartridge immediately, and leave overnight. This lets any air work it's way out of the system, and the printer should be back to normal the following day. In a nozzle test, a break in the printed line indicates a problem. If, after repeated cleans and nozzle checks, the break in the line moves around and varies in number, the problem is usually an air trap.

How often do I need to use my cleaning cartridges?

ColorDot especially recommend their use when alternating between ink sets. Cleaning cartridges should also be used if running the printer for the first time, fresh out of the box. If the first ink you are going to use is ColorDot Ink, the machine should be flushed out so the ink does not react with the fluid ship inside the printer to keep the nozzles moist. The cleaning cartridges can also be used during regular printer maintenance to avoid costly nozzle clogging.

What is the best way to mount and frame my inkjet print?

All inkjet prints are susceptible to humidity. Avoid moist humid environments such as bathrooms and kitchens. Check humidity levels before permanently mounting a print for display. Avoid print contact with glass. Seal the back of your mounted print to isolate environmental variations. In common with normal photographs, avoid displaying in direct sunlight.
